How To Solve Your Acne Problems

February 12th, 2010

Puberty has come and gone, but why do you still have acne? If you’re over the age of 25 and you still have pimples, zits, blackheads, and others, then don’t blame puberty for it anymore. Getting rid of your acnes isn’t as simple as seems. You might want to keep it from happening first, which will need full commitment on your part.

To start with, you should get a healthy lifestyle. Clear out the toxins from your body by eating non-fatty foods, avoiding alcoholic and caffeinated drinks, and drinking lots of water. Also, try to adapt a regular workout schedule and avoid stress. Smoking also clogs our pores and adds toxins in our body, so that should be one of the list of things you should avoid doing. And of course, apply proper hygiene.

But what if you already have acne? You can prevent acnes from happening, but for those who have already invaded your face and body, there are still things that you can do.

You can try topical creams and gels, but they only extinguish the problem temporarily. Not that they’re inefficient, as a matter of fact, most acne dries out quickly with over-the-counter products. Medicines that contain benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid may be used in mild to moderate cases of acne. You can also hear other people swearing by natural remedies. Honey, oatmeal, ginger, and even ice are said to heal acnes.

However, if you have serious acne case, topical products are not enough.

Acnes should also be treated internally. As mentioned, topical medicines work for mild to moderate cases of acne, but they can’t exterminate the root of the problem. There are oral antibiotics that people can take to clear up their acne. However, those medicines, which may contain erythromycin or any of the tetracycline antibiotics, may have side effects that include staining of the teeth among others. So it is best to consult a dermatologist first before taking any oral medicines.

For some ladies, acnes are a monthly thing. Each time their menstrual cycle is about to start, women’s hormonal level fluctuates, causing oil secretion of the glands. There are those who find taking oral contraceptives effective in extinguishing their acnes.

Getting rid of acnes has no perfect answer. What works for others may not work for some. But whatever measure you opt, taking a healthy lifestyle won’t hurt.

Eliminating Body Hairs Using Common Methods

February 12th, 2010

Getting rid of hair for women is a typical process. Good hygiene for them now ordinarily includes getting rid of unwanted body and facial hair. Fine hair on the upper lip must be removed, as well as underarm hair. Preparing for two-piece time isn’t only about getting rid of extra body flabs anymore. Showing off bikini body for girls also means displaying off smooth arms and legs.

While hair removal is very normal for the ladies, some “macho” guys also get rid of their excess hair on the body. While women will not raise a brow upon seeing a hairy man, they likely won’t be anxious to present themselves to him as well. Some men think that cutting or getting rid of their face and body hair is more attractive to ladies. It can also be that they find being hair-free more comfortable and hygienic than being covered with their own hair.

Hair removal is an old practice. The practice has been existing since the ancient civilization time. People are only continuing what they think works.

Those who wish to remove outcast facial and body hairs can choose either to depilate or epilate. Depilating is the removal of the hair from above the skin surface, while epilating is removing the entire hair from root to tip.

Depilating techniques include shaving the hair, trimming it, applying chemical creams that break the bonds of the hair, and buffing them away. Popular epilating styles include waxing, sugaring, plucking, and threading. And while these techniques are admittedly more painful, hair will take longer to grow back.

There are also permanent methods of hair removal and reduction. The first is electrolysis, the process of removing the hair by applying electricity to a solid hair-thin metal probe slid into every hair follicle. This causes localized damage to the parts that generate hair, therefore removing hair for good.

Permanent hair reduction processes include the popular laser and IPL. Laser hair removal uses laser to damage follicles, rendering it unable to create hair. IPL, or Intense Pulsed Light, uses light of different wavelengths to remove hair. It is also used to cure different skin problems, such as hyperpigmentation.

The above mentioned methods differ on effectivity, cost, convenience in using, duration of time the hair grows back, and other factors. Whatever method you choose, always apply care as each one has its own pros and cons.

How To Boost Your Metabolism And Lose Weight

February 4th, 2010

Possibilities are that if your reading this then you have tried – a minimum of once in your life – to boost your metabolism. Maybe you started a rigorous exercise program of jogging and muscle toning. Or even you started eating many little portions each day, instead of three giant sized meal portions. Or maybe you started taking all types of supplements that promised to boost your metabolism.

The thing is, that every one of these methods can indeed work. Exercise, eating strategically, and ensuring that your body has catabolism-friendly supplements are but three of the many usually good ideas. The matter is that a lot of people don’t have any real scientific understanding of what, how, or why these ways boost metabolism.

A number of us, of course, don’t really even know if they work; we have a tendency to just assume that they do. As an example, a person might start a full of life exercise program that has significant aerobic cardiovascular movement, like jogging or cycling. Indeed, after a week a person may notice a big drop in weight.

Yet is this due to a boosted metabolism? Maybe; maybe not. Perhaps its due to water loss through perspiration that hasn’t been adequately replenished? The point here is that several people – are at risk to their health and wellness – don’t quite understand the tips, strategies, and techniques of boosting their metabolism.

Here are the prime three ways speed up your metabolism and lose weight:

1. Exercise
2. Lifestyle
3. Diet

Exercise

It’s going to be past news for you to be reminded that exercising could be a massive part of boosting your metabolism and burning up calories. Unless you’re born with one of those unusually active metabolisms which allows you to, virtually freakishly, eat thousands of calories every day without weight-gain consequences, you’re like the vast majority people who need to present your metabolisms a bit of a kick through exercising.

Now, you may suppose that cardiovascular (aerobic) exercise is a crucial part of boosting your metabolism; and you’d be right! Only if, of course, your qualified doctor confirms that you just are in a position to start a program of cardiovascular exercise, this is indeed the place to start. Increasing heart rate, blood circulation, body temperature, and oxygen intake/carbon dioxide exchange all send messages to the system to initiative catabolism (breaking down cells
and using them for energy).

Lifestyle

After we come back across the term lifestyle, we have a tendency to tend to think of the essential day-to-day habits that we have a tendency to depend upon; generally without giving them much of a second thought. And this is often indeed the case after we talk about how lifestyle influences the speed of your metabolism. Now quite honestly, most people live busy lives in one kind or another, and therefore it’s difficult to essentially keep a watch on all of our habits.

Balancing work, family, hobbies, and different commitments often means that our lifestyle isn’t a lot of a selection, as it is a necessity. Yet with respect to the fact that many people face sincere limitations in our lifestyle selections, there are many things that we do – very little things, however vital things – which will facilitate speed up our metabolism.

Diet

Ah yes, diet. For many people, our data regarding metabolism has related in one way or another to eating. Most of us are told of metabolism-friendly foods, or metabolism unfriendly foods. But, while we have a tendency to be primarily aware that, all else being equal, a stalk of celery is best for your metabolism than fries with gravy, our understanding of diet and metabolism is pretty low. Indeed, as you’ll soon learn, it’s not merely what you eat that matters; it’s when, and how, too.

Clever Weight Loss For The Long-Term

January 23rd, 2010

Unsuccessful diets, and uncontrollable obesity may lead you to believe that losing excess fat is difficult. However, it is quite basic. At least on paper. The only thing that you need to do is keep the calories that you expend greater than the calories that you consume.

Your first task is to identify how many calories you are burning daily. There are a few formulas that have been utilized over the years that anticipate how many calories you expend each day. Generally, these formulas are based on your sex, age, weight, height and level of activity. When applying these formulas, be aware that the answer you receive is merely an estimate. It is not a rigid number that never changes day to day. It will in fact fluctuate.

Healthy weight loss is believed to consist of shedding one to two pounds weekly. While it is achievable to lose more, it may be harmful to do so.

Now how many calories do you actually have to cut out of your intake? One pound of body fat equals about 3500 calories. If you desire to lose 1 pound in one week, you need to cut three-thousand five-hundred calories out of your diet weekly. While this might sound like a lot, per day, it only comes out to a 500 calorie deficit.

Your next job is to determine how you want to shed any unwanted weight. You can either get rid of five-hundred calories from your diet per day, or boost the number of calories you expend per day by five-hundred calories. Combining these two approaches will be most successful.

Just do not forget to set goals. When I talk about goals, I am not just talking about your ultimate goal to lose weight. Rather, I am referring to a specific amount of weight. This ultimate goal should thereafter be broken down into daily, weekly, and monthly goals. Thus, if it is your ultimate goal to lose 25 lbs in the next six months, then you should outline a daily plan which will allow you to get there. Thereafter, you can keep track of your progress over the weeks and months. Seeing that you remain on pace to lose your desired twenty-five pounds in 6 months will give you the motivation to resist the cravings, temptations, and keep you right on track.

Keep in mind that when you hit your daily goals, you are also hitting your weekly goals, and when you hit your weekly goals, you also hit your monthly goals. Your monthly goals are what lead up to your ultimate goal of losing 25 pounds in 6 months. Stay the course and you will get there.

Are You Trying to Find a Fast Way to Lose Weight?

December 26th, 2009

Is there really a fast way to lose weight? Well there are certainly plenty of ways in which you can speed up your weight loss which is a safe way to lose weight at a good rate. What you don’t want to have to do is to resort to all the fad diets or even diet pills that are around. Neither of these options are healthy, and the pills can even give you nasty side effects, not to mention you could become addicted to them.

All these diets that promise rapid weight loss over very short periods of time, are destined to fail. They are going to be either at almost starvation levels, or they are going to be asking you to eat odd combinations of foods. There is no way you will be able to stick with these for long, and as soon as you start to eat properly again, any weight you lost, often plus more, will go straight back on again.

If, however, you want to find a healthy fast way to lose weight, then there are lots of things you can do, which will help you to speed up your weight loss.

If you feel like a snack it’s a good idea to have a glass of water first and then see how you feel in half an hour or so. You will probably find that you no longer have the urge to snack.

2. Eat less at a meal, but eat more often. If you eat 5 or 6 times a day you will generally feel fuller, but overall you will be eating less. Eating more often will also stop you from feeling hungry at any time during the day which will help to stop snacking.
Your body will burn calories during and just after eating, so if you are eating lots of smaller meals a day, then it stands to reason that you will also be burning more calories than just eating 2 or 3 larger meals

If you feel hungry during the day, then you could try to eat four or five smaller meals a day, rather than relying on two or three larger meals. This way it will never be long until the next meal is due and you are far less likely to feel hungry and want to snack between meals.

4. Try and cut down on some higher calorie treats. This does not mean that you have to stop having them all together, but if you can cut down the quantity you will be saving calories. So, for instance, if you are used to having a treat every day that is 200 calories, then you could trying having it every alternate day instead. This would save you 600 calories per week, which amounts to over half a pound of weight loss in a month. Well worth doing.

Take a look at what you eat between meals and see if you can cut this down. Even if you take out a couple of treats you could easily find that you have saved enough calories to lose an extra 1/2 pound over a month.

At the end of the day though, there is not a magic way to finding a fast way to lose weight. You need to watch what you eat and also to do some form of exercise. This way you will not fail to lose your weight.

Spot Reduction Weight Loss Is A Reality!

December 15th, 2009

Spot reduction weight loss is a reality with topical applications of the asthma drug aminophylline. This is a dieters dream come true. Studies back the findings, which increases the spot reduction on the body.

The studies showed the lypolytic threshold in the different areas of the body result in the fat being stored more than other areas. Lypolitic thresholds are the way the body stores fat in the areas of the body and how it is released into the blood stream. The aminophylline reduces the thresholds in those regions of the body.

The study includes 50 men and women ranging in ages 21 to 65. The controlled group and the experimental group both had a reduced caloric diet with the controlled group using 5% aminophylline cream to the waist areas. They rubbed 15 cc of cream twice a day to the waist areas. There were not any significant side effects in the experimental group. At the end of the 12-week period, the experimental group had an average of 6 cm smaller waists compared to the controlled group.

The body mass index of the group using the aminophylline as less than the controlled group. The hip to waist ratio was also less in the group using the application. The women in the group using the application have more losses than the men. The fact the experimental group versus the controlled group did not have any differences in the total body weight. The study stated this was due to the redistributed of the fat mass. Based on the findings of the study it was conclude the aminophylline cream application caused the reduction of fat.

The fact the study was funded by a foundation to sell the product is not lost on many weight experts. The fact the application was a cream based product tends to have many believe study used a specialized cream that was formulated specifically for the study and to reduce the risks of rashes in the groups involved with the study.

This does not remove the fact the cream will eventually appear on the market to help with spot reduction of weight for many people. The cream may have only reduced the fluid in the fat cells without actually removing the fat cells as the study indicated.

The fact that aminophylline was used in the case study requires many to understand the drug itself. Aminophylline is in the xanthine class of drugs. This is the same class as caffeine and vinpocetine. They are stimulants used for asthma and bronchodilators. Aminophylline inhibits the breakdown of camp or cyclic adenosine monophosphate within the cells and based on the research lowers the lypolytic threshold of fat cells.

Only time will tell if the FDA approves the cream for use as a weight loss product, yet it is still something to watch if you are a dieter seeking to lose fat in certain areas of your body.

The Causes of Obesity

December 15th, 2009

Obesity is very simple to explain. It is as a condition of being overweight. It implies that the excessive amounts of fat are collected in your body resulting in the excess body weight. In basic, the weight of a healthy person should be in proportion with his or her height, which means within the body mass index (BMI). The ideal BMI is within 18.5 to 24.9. But, if your Body mass index goes over 30 then you are considered to be an obese person.

Obesity has bad effects on the general health and lifestyle of an individual. People who are overweight become very inactive as they find it hard to participate in great number of daily activities. They cannot move easily, they are always tired and they risk of becoming sick with different kinds of illnesses ranging from cardiovascular, cancer, diabetes, and many others.

In all probability, there is no one who doesn’t know that the most ordinary factors for obesity are sedentary lifestyle, high intake of calories and even scientific reasons (such as psychiatric, medical and genetic causes). A sedentary lifestyle and being inactive are the first on the list as a person is not willing to do some exercises or go to any kind of sport, which as a consequence results in obesity.

Heredity or genetics can be another reason for becoming obese. On the basis of great number of researches we can say that the gene for obesity has been passed on from generation to generation. Therefore, the kids have tendency to become obese if their parents are obese. As well, genetic tendency for obesity renders many problems with losing weight in the long term.

What’s more, there are some psychological problems that can cause obesity. This entails that people tend to overeat in situations which upset them, make them sad or angry or even if they are bored with something. Also, some diseases and conditions like Cushing’s syndrome, Hypothyroidism, Depression, and some neurological problems force you to overeat which as a consequence has the accumulation of excessive fat in the organism.

But, the most common reason why people overeat is that they don’t actually have enough time to eat healthy food as they are overloaded with many duties. Chaotic schedules have contributed to the consumption of fast and processed food, which, on one hand, lacks in vitamins and minerals and, on the other, has a high amount of calories.

Obesity sufferers think that they will stay fat forever and that nothing can help them to slim down. But, the fact is that you can cure obesity provided that you are disciplined, have a strong will, and if you completely follow the diet plan. Once you recognize the problem go and visit your doctor to give you professional advice concerning your obesity problem.

Hopefully, there is a great number of programs for losing weight which have already proven to give great results. However, depending on your needs, you can even decide to undertake some extreme methods such as obesity surgery or intake of anti-obesity drugs.

No More Food Cravings – A Guide For Your Success

December 14th, 2009

Controlling food cravings is quite a challenge especially to those who want to lose a few flabs and pounds. While this is true, the act is not impossible. In fact, there are many people who have succeeded controlling food cravings just by combining determination and discipline. But this is not as easy for everyone. If you want to control your food cravings to save yourself from additional pounds or if you want to do so as part of your diet, then here are some practical tips you can follow:

1. Make a plan for your diet. Write down what you will eat for each meal of the day and for snacks throughout the day. Having that plan with you will help because you will know what you can consume and what you can not consume. You will know every time when you stray from your diet plan.

2. Learn to avoid the bad foods. When you are under a diet, it would be basic to know which foods you can actually consume and which ones you have to avoid. Instead of making yourself suffer from the sights and smells of your favorite foods, then learn to avoid any of them. One practical way to do so is to clean your fridge from these foods. Be sure to only stock up on those that are on the “allowed foods” list. Controlling food cravings is much easier if you do not have the temptation within easy reach.

3. Eat some nuts. You can actually temper hunger pangs if you eat nuts and drink water. Studies show that food cravings tend to pass by if you snack on nuts and drink water in between meals. Be sure to stock up on nuts and bottled water at home, in the office and even on the go. That way, you will not have to pity yourself whenever you feel the need to consume something.

4. Take that afternoon nap. You should not take a nap in the hopes of forgetting the foods you want to eat. You should take power naps because food cravings actually sneak up when we are tired. In controlling food cravings, you need to be ahead. Make sure that you do not reach the end of the line when it comes to physical and mental tiredness.

5. Distractions, distractions, distractions. Distracting yourself is not denying your food cravings. To distract yourself, you have to do something that you find satisfying or enjoyable. When you feel the craving sneaking in, then you can do something you like – read a book, call a loved one, exercise, listen to music or meditate. Since cravings usually last up to ten minutes, you can let it pass you when you distract yourself for that duration by doing something pleasant.

6. Let yourself go sometimes. In controlling food cravings, it is proven that periodically giving in to your cravings can actually do you good. When you avoid your favorite foods for long periods, you can crave for more because of the feeling of self deprivation. You can do better in controlling food cravings by allowing yourself to indulge in small portions of your favorite foods at set times. For instance, you can allow yourself to eat one slice of your favorite chocolate cake once a week. That way, you will feel satisfied and not deprived.
